Tourist information

For more information about Berlin, visit the official website www.berlin.de.

Particle free emissions law

We would like to inform you that from January 1, 2008, Berlin's inner city is designated as a "particle free emissions zone". Please be advised that when driving into this area of the city, a specially approved label needs to be visibly displayed on your car.

Application for this sticker may be made through the following website: www.umwelt-plakette.de.

We highly recommend that you apply for your sticker well in advance of your journey to Berlin.

Public transport

The public transport company in Berlin is called BVG. You find find the yellow-black BVG sign on every station. Follow this link to the BVG (Berlin Transportation) Homepage or consult the information placards found at all transportation stops for info concerning tickets and route service. Please be aware that all tickets must be validated before use. Only ticket bought on buses and trams are automatically valid. Almost all tickets are non-transferable. In most cases only an AB tarif zone ticket will be necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: Public transport in Berlin on strike

it is quite likely that from Wednesday (March 5th) on the employees of the Berlin public transportation are on strike. That means that only very few buses will go, while tram and underground trains will be discontinued. The S-Bahn trains are probably not affected.

Please be prepared to allow twice the usual time for travelling within Berlin. We recommend inquiring with the reception of your hotels about the best way to get to the Hotel Adlon on time. Since many people will switch to cars, travelling by car will also take longer. Unfortunately, we cannot postpone the starting time of our meeting and kindly ask you to be there at 9:30.
